On a recent episode of Gary Vaynerchuk’s Pod Sessions show he had guests Charly Caruso as well as NASCAR drivers Erik Jones and Ty Dillon. Caruso told the story of how she got the WWE gig. Introducing herself to Mark Carrano after recognizing him from Total Divas when she was backstage at a Smackdown taping in her native Indiana. After allowing her contract as a sportscaster expire.

On how she got in the WWE: “I was backstage at Smackdown. It was in Indianapolis. I ran into head of talent relations, Mark Carrano. At this point my contract with Fox Indianapolis (as a sportscaster) had just expired. I didn’t want to renew it. I said hey to Mark, I recognize you from the show Total Divas. I’m a sportscaster, would you mind taking a look at my work. He said sure but didn’t really follow up with me. So I reached out again a few months later and he’s like, You’re good. I’m gonna pass this along to Michael Cole. From there they had me come audition and the rest is history. Here I am.”
