Chris Jericho makes surprise appearance in CMLL to attack Mistico

The Forbidden Door has become a turnstile between AEW and CMLL in recent weeks. Last week, Mercedes Moné arrived unannounced to get physical with Stephanie Vaquer. This week, it was Chris Jericho’s turn for a surprise appearance.

Arena Mexico was the place to be on Friday night (June 28, 2024). After Mistico competed in a standard trios bout and the ring cleared, he stayed behind to soak in the cheers. That’s when a masked man, wearing a Mistico mask, attacked El Rey de Plata y Oro. Commentary wondered if it was a crazy fan. Qué caramba es! Then they noticed that the mystery assailant had the physique of a wrestler. Jericho hit a Codebreaker and blasted a Judas Effect before revealing his face to the crowd.

Jericho put himself over in a promo. After 30 years, Lionheart is back in Arena Mexico. All the people say Jericho is the best wrestler of all-time. Well, Lionheart is the best luchador of all-time. Jericho has the heart of a lion, and Mistico has the heart of a rat. Lionheart challenged Mistico to a match anywhere, any time, any place. Mistico hyped the crowd to accept the challenge in Arena Mexico.

Backstage, Jericho explained how wrestling in Mexico was a huge part of his life. Mistico calls Arena Mexico his house. It used to be Lionheart’s house. Jericho is coming to take back Arena Mexico from Mistico.

CMLL has not yet announced an official date for Mistico versus Jericho in Arena Mexico.
