AEW superstar Cody Rhodes was under fire for participating in an offensive chant following his team’s victory at AAA’s TripleMania XXVII event. Rhodes, who teamed with Psycho Clown and a debuting Cain Velasquez, joined in on a “puto” chant, which is heavily looked down upon due to its homophobic intentions. SB Nation’s Outsports received the following statement from AEW explaining how bad Rhodes felt afterwoods.
Cody joined his teammates at AAA TripleMania for what he understood to be their post-match tradition in Mexico and was unaware of any negative connotations. Certainly the last thing Cody would want to do is to hurt or offend anyone, anywhere.
