SmackDown Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan will not be making the trip to Saudi Arabia for WWE Super ShowDown, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio.

Bryan reportedly turned down the offer to work the show. There’s no word yet on what this means for his status on the blue brand, but we will keep you updated.

Bryan previously skipped out on WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia over how the Kingdom treats homosexuals and the controversy surrounding the state-sponsored murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, among other reasons. He did wrestle at the first WWE event in the Kingdom, Greatest Royal Rumble.

As noted, Kevin Owens is also turning down the return to Saudi Arabia. This is why Dolph Ziggler returned on SmackDown last night to challenge WWE Champion Kofi Kingston for Super ShowDown. Owens was originally scheduled for that match, but Meltzer noted that Ziggler was brought back as a last minute change.

Ziggler was previously announced for a convention in Melbourne Australia during the weekend of Super ShowDown, but WWE Australia announced today that he was pulled due to a scheduling change. (H/T to Wrestling Inc.) Carmella was just announced as his replacement.

There’s also no official word on why Owens turned the show down, but it could be due to his friend and partner Sami Zayn, who was pulled from Greatest Royal Rumble because he is of Syrian descent and the Saudis have had strained relations with Syria.

Stay tuned for updates on the Super ShowDown situation.
