Dean Ambrose is reportedly still leaving WWE, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.
There has been some speculation on Ambrose possibly staying with WWE after his current contract expires in April. Bryan Alvarez reported on Monday that some within WWE were under the impression that Ambrose had decided to stay. This was just a rumor going around and nothing concrete. However, Meltzer noted that word going around as of last night’s RAW was that Ambrose is definitely leaving the company.
Last night’s RAW saw Michael Cole refer to Ambrose’s contract expiring for the first time. Renee Young then mentioned that Ambrose is moving on to “greener pastures.”
WWE previously announced that Ambrose would not be renewing his contract when it expired in April, indicating his departure from the company, as had been reported by multiple sources. WWE’s statement read, “Dean Ambrose (Jonathan Good) will not be renewing his contract with WWE when it expires in April. We are grateful and appreciative of all that Dean has given to WWE and our fans. We wish him well and hope that one day Dean will return to WWE.”
Ambrose is set to reunite with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins as The Shield for Sunday’s WWE Fastlane pay-per-view. They will face Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Baron Corbin.
