Dolphins Players You See Gone By 2025

In a post from last week, I discussed that our Miami Dolphins had already given wide receiver Jaylen Waddle a sizable extension and were attempting to give quarterback Tua Tagovailoa a sizable extension as well. Following those two players’ safety Jevon Holland and defensive end Jaelan Phillips are both also due extensions to their rookie deals. I also highlighted some of the higher-priced veterans that may be let go after this coming season in cap moves designed to make way for those new contracts.

I then asked the following question-

Do you think 2024 could be the final season for any of the above high-priced vets?

Below are some of your thoughts and answers-

Luvs2drnk2.0 sees Chubb gone, Armstead bowing out and Mostert and Ramsey possibly being released after 2024.

My best guess is that this will be Chubb’s last season, hence the drafting of Robinson. Armstead will retire next season, with Paul taking his place. If Cam Smith becomes a starter, that could allow them to move on from Ramsey next year. The drafting of Wright could lead to Mostert being gone next year as well. I would expect them to draft a WR in 2025 to be Hill’s replacement for 2026. If a long-term deal isn’t done by the end of this season, Holland will likely be franchise-tagged. Now if any of Robinson, Paul, Smith, and Wright don’t pan out. Then we’ll probably see some contract restructures/extensions done to try and keep as many of those guys as possible.

sundevil11 believes that Tyreek isn’t going anywhere.

Hill has the opportunity to be the best WR in Dolphins’ History. He also recently said that he wants to retire a Miami Dolphin.

My favorite receiver all time is Paul Warfield. Clayton and Duper have better stats than Warfield as a Dolphin but I attribute that more on Marino and the style of football in the 1980s and 1990s.

sundevil11 then followed up with his reasoning for the team keeping Hill and even Ramsey. Would also like to see the team get Holland a new deal ASAP.

You guys mentioned the two players that will most likely not be on the roster in Armstead and Chubb.

However, I want to chat about the players that I would not cut and that starts with Hill & Ramsey. Both of these guys are going to be enshrined in Canton when they retire. I believe that the FO will find a way to pay Hill more money this season and then sign him to a new contract next offseason.

In the case of Ramsey, I believe that at some point he will become a safety similar to what happened with Charles Woodson and Rod Woodson.

Finally, I believe that the FO should re-sign Holland either during training camp or before the end of the season. I have watched him play since his days at Oregon and I could care less about his opinions on social issues. He is going to be a Pro Bowler. In the case of Phillips, let’s see how he performs this season.

Miami7 doesn’t buy into the hype around Holland, sees Armstead taking retirement, Lamm gone, Calais as a one-year rental, Poyer a question mark, Mostert gone if hurt again, Mike White replaced with someone more competent, Barrett a question mark, and Chubb’s status up to how well he returns from injury.

‘May’ be Holland’s last ride? He (likely) is thinking he’s elite & want to be paid as such? Don’t see it. Good, solid player – not elite. JMO Tua’s deal will have a ripple affect throughout the organization for the next few years….who to pay, who not to, who they CAN pay, and who they just can’t. I think we’re going to see Holland go elsewhere – but maybe that’s just my opinion and (along with his somewhat ‘overrated’ stature) a little distaste for his vocal disrespect of his ex-coach?

Likely Armstead is retiring after this year.

Lamm has already stated this is the final hurrah.

Calais Campbell is on borrowed time….and doin’ fine…but

Poyer – depends on his play this year

Mostert possibly – if injured AGAIN (how many times does he wanna rehab into his 30’s?)

Mike White cause there’s GOTTA be better options out there….somewhere

Shaq Barrett cause who knows what’s left in the tank?

Chubb depending on how the knees respond combined with Kamara & Chop the Phins ‘may’ try to find an ‘out’…if they feel it’s in their best interest?

Yarganaught talks about a thing called regret.

I see it all the time in my line of work (technology licensing) where the deal signed today, doesn’t look anything like the final deal years from now. I have to think that as one of those high-salary guys, you have to understand that the team will eventually sign a younger guy to replace you during those final seasons.

tpl sees Armstead bowing out after one more ride, Hill and Ramsey possibly gone if the replacements are up to snuff.

Next year Armstead will definitely retire. With Patrick Paul having a year under his belt, he will be ready. Ramsey will depend on if there is someone to replace him. Hill will depend on who will replace him. If Achane learns the WR spot, he could be a replacement for Hill. Also Malik and Tahj are unknowns. Not as fast but maybe good after the catch.

Louie the lobster, sees Hill and Chub as post-June 1st cuts next year but would like to see Ramsey stick around a bit.

Chubb and Hill will most likely be post June 1st cuts next year. I would like them to keep Ramsey around till they draft and groom his replacement.

MIAMI235 says get hurt again then gone. I ask, is there any possibility that Armstead is not injured at some point in the season?

Another lengthy injury for Armstead will probably do it?

Well, if there was any consensus among the fans from our site, it’s that Armstead will be playing his last season in a Dolphins uniform or any uniform. I personally hope that when he retires, the team finds a way to give him another position to keep him around. Guys like Armstead are unique in what they bring to the team outside of their work ethic and play on the field and the Dolphins need to learn how to hold onto these guys after they retire so that newer players can learn and feed off of their experience. As always thank you to everyone who took the time to answer our question of the day.
