At Wednesday night’s WWE NXT taping, Finn Balor appeared in the final segment to help Shinsuke Nakamura take out Bobby Roode and Andrade “Cien” Almas. It seems possible that this is a dark segment. WWE also made sure to note in their Instagram post that Balor is “not medically cleared”, despite being physical in this post-match angle. He’s been out since August 2016 with a shoulder injury.

Well, the Demon King may be on his way to WWE TV soon. Dave Meltzer noted on the recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio that Balor is supposed to return to Raw in two weeks, which would be the post-Fastlane show (h/t transcription to Wrestling Rumors):

“Finn Balor did a run in [at the NXT tapings], although I think that was dark. I had people going like ‘oh no, he’s going back to NXT.’ He’s not going back to NXT, he’s gonna be on the Raw brand, and he’s supposed to come back in two weeks. Maybe quicker. He’s on his way back, he’s always been scheduled for WrestleMania, I don’t know what role though.”

This comes a little under one week after Balor’s WWE live event return had been advertised. His first date had been set for March 10 in Buffalo, NY.

In this scenario, the longest reigning NXT champion would be coming back during the heart of WrestleMania 33 season. There isn’t a clear-cut match opening for now, however, with Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar, Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns vs. the Undertaker, and Seth Rollins vs. Triple H either confirmed or likely for the April 2 show. Other Raw stars like Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman don’t have anything lined up, so could he go head-to-head with them?

Plan B could be the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, which uses WWE stars that have nothing to do. It’s not an ideal spot for the first-ever WWE Universal champion, but a realistic possibly if there’s nothing for him to do.

So if Finn Balor is going to be back for WrestleMania season, what should he do? Are you looking forward to having him back?
