Hikaru Shida advances, Deonna Purrazzo is gone from the Owen Hart Tournament

on

The first round of the women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament continued on tonight’s (June 29) episode of AEW Collision with a match between Hikaru Shida and Deonna Purrazzo.

Hikaru had not wrestled on AEW television since January, but the former world champion was on top of her game. Purrazzo worked over Shida’s arm in search of her usual submission finish, but The Virtuosa had no answer for Hikaru’s sudden katana knee strike.

Purrazzo was a sore loser after she was pinned, so she attacked Shida and was looking to do even more damage with a kendo stick. That’s when Thunder Rosa came out for the save, which means her feud with Deonna will continue:

Shida now advances to the next round of the tournament, where she will face the winner of the Forbidden Door pre-show match between Mariah May and Saraya.

Do you think Hikaru Shida will go all the way in the Owen Hart Tournament? Give me your prediction in the comments below, Cagesiders.
