How To Unlock the Cornservant Minion in FFXIV

on

Of the many minions added in Final Fantasy 14’s latest expansion, Dawntrail, the Cornservant might be the strangest. A pun-derful play on words, the Cornservant’s only mission in existing is to spread the joy of Corn to all who would listen.

You’ll first encounter the Cornservant as an NPC in the starting area of Tuliyollal, but quickly the diminutive maize minion will take your all over the continent to spread the word of Corn. And eventually, you can claim the Cornservant as your own. Here’s how to unlock the Cornservant Minion in FFXIV

Beware! This quest contains spoilers!

To obtain the Cornservant in FFXIV, you’ll need to both complete a good chunk of the MSQ (Main Scenario Quests), and six separate side quests. These start in Tuliyollal, after you’ve completed the level 90 MSQ “The Rite of Succession.” After you’ve completed this quest, you’ll find the Cornservant standing on the docks of Tuliyollal (X: 16, Y: 13). Complete this quest and you’ve begun the Cornservant Quest Chain.

You’ll need to complete two new quests, “Too Much of a Good Thing” in Urqopacha, and “Stretched Thin” in Kozama’uka. These also have MSQ completion requirements, and wont appear until you’ve progressed far enough in the story.

After these two have been completed, “Tastes Like Home” will appear in Heritage Founds. Then your next quest will be in Shaaloani, with “Refined Tastes.” Finally to complete the quest chain and unlock the Cornservant, you’ll need to have advanced the MSQ to “Unto the Summit” and you’ll unlock the final quest “Tasteful Memories” in Solution Nine.

What’s With the Cornservant in FFXIV?

The Cornservant is a pun of the term Dawnservant, the title given to the rulers of Tuliyollal. Except this Cornservant is the ruler of all Corn? We think. They’re at least very stoked about corn. Corn, or Maize, is also linked to mesoamerican history just like much of the lore of Dawntrail, so that’s also a connection. Whatever the reasoning, we’re sure the Cornservant is going to become a fan-favorite minion!
