Justin Rose: I still believe I can win The Open

on

Justin Rose has secured a place at The Open, which will be played in a few weeks. The amazing golfer and renowned name in the world of golf had to qualify for the last Major of the season. The Englishman has a history of competing in this tournament, and many wondered if he would secure a place again this time.

Rose confirmed his qualities and showed that he is a golfer worthy of attention.

The 43-year-old highlighted in a media interview that one of his main goals was to win The Open, and he eventually succeeded. Rose believes he can even go so far as to win this competition. After a brilliant opportunity presented itself, Rose completed the job.

“We took it seriously. I want to be at The Open; I still believe I can win The Open so it was an important day to get through for me.”- he said, as quoted by somersetlive.

The Englishman admitted that it is not easy to play in the qualifiers, given that there are many quality golfers, and your name in the world of golf does not play an important role. You have to give your best, especially when you have such great support from the crowd as he had. With the help of the crowd, Rose did great things and fulfilled the expectations of golf fans.

“It’s been a couple of added bonus rounds now I’m through. You don’t want to do this day, it’s a hard day and with only four spots you have to play well no matter how good of a player you are.

This golf course doesn’t know if you’re Justin Rose or whoever you might be, you’ve got to go out there and put two good rounds together. There is a bit of added pressure to turn up here with a bit of crowd support, which is nice, but it definitely makes you feel it.”

Justin Rose was particularly impressive during this competition in 2018 when he finished tied for second place with Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, and Kevin Kisner. The brilliant Francesco Molinari emerged as the winner back then. Rose showed his readiness to dominate the competition and win the tournament.

Six years on, Rose hasn’t been particularly successful, but the desire he possesses this year suggests he could surprise. In a media interview, he reminisced about The Open in 2016 when Henrik Stenson triumphed and Phil Mickelson was also in the final round. It’s one of the Majors he remembers fondly. Generally, playing alongside such golfing giants is a great honor.

“I remember being on the wrong side of the draw, which I never let [Henrik live down]. I always said, ‘You had it easy, mate.’ But it was definitely one of those opens where it was one half versus the other.”- Rose continued.

Justin Rose saw improvements in his game during practice sessions, mentioning advancements in ball speeds, distances, and carries that were previously beyond his reach this year. He also emphasized the critical role of maintaining a strong short game, stressing its importance for upcoming challenges in links golf.

There are many aspects of his game where he has seen improvement and progress. Rose aims for his game to continue progressing in the coming weeks and achieve many positive results. Regardless of how seasoned and skilled a golfer may be, there is always room for improvement and better results. This is clearly the premise guiding the Englishman throughout his career.

Justin Rose and his Major records

It will be interesting to see what the 43-year-old can show this time. A replay of 2018 would be great for him, but with hope that this time he achieves victory. Rose is someone who has often shone at Majors. As the winner of the 2013 US Open, he caught the attention of golf fans. Additionally, he was impressive at the Masters, finishing T2 twice (in 2015 and 2017). The Englishman also finished T3 at the PGA Championship. Considering his results in major tournaments, there is optimism that Rose could achieve great success. The competition is fierce, but that certainly won’t stop Rose from giving his best and aiming for the trophy.

Looking at fan predictions and the expectations of bookmakers, Scottie Scheffler is the top favorite to win this tournament, followed by Bryson DeChambeau, then Xander Schauffele, and Ludvig Aberg. We will see what these golfers can accomplish. Scheffler is the golfer who will receive the most attention. It is expected that the American will lift the trophy once again.

We have no doubt that some of the names from which success is not expected will appear in the very end.
