Karolina Muchova breaks silence after wrist-related withdrawal devasted her fans

Karolina Muchova’s right wrist issue doesn’t seem to be as concerning as some feared as the Czech tennis star abruptly withdrew from Eastbourne more because of precautionary reasons.

After launching her post-wrist surgery comeback in Eastbourne, Muchova got through her first two matches in 10 months. It was a very promising start to a comeback for Muchova, who experienced several setbacks in her wrist recovery before ultimately deciding to have surgery in February.

But when it was announced on Thursday that the former world No. 8 was pulling out of her quarterfinal match versus Madison Keys due to a right wrist issue, tennis fans were instantly heartbroken for the Czech because the majority feared that her old injury reappeared.

Fortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case and Muchova has indicated that she plans to compete at Wimbledon.

Muchova explains the sudden Eastbourne withdrawal

“It was my first tournament back after a while and nobody knew what to expect or how my body would react. Today I woke up and when I tried to warm up the body and the wrist it was a little stiff. I’m in touch with my medical team back in Prague and they recommended that I did not risk it with Wimbledon around the corner,” Muchova said in a statement.

“Even though I really love playing in Eastbourne and I felt great on the court here, unfortunately I had to pull out. I really, really loved it here. The grounds are packed and everyone was so nice and supportive, telling me welcome back, so that makes it even more sad for me that I cannot go out and play for them. It’s early in my comeback and I just don’t want to rush it.”

Muchova will now probably have some treatment on her wrist and see what happens in the next couple of days.
