Mark Henry spoke about Ronda Rousey on SiriusXM’s “Busted Open Radio” today. When the topic of Rousey getting booed was brought up, Henry was quick to defend her by stating that he thinks that fans are hating on her not because of her merits or lackthereof, but rather because anyone who is as successful as she is breeds contempt from others. Here’s what Henry had to say:

Ronda falls in the same category as Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Lebron, and Kevin Durant. She’s great. She suffers from the greatness hate. [Tom] Brady has been to the Super Bowl nine times! He’s won five of nine. There’s a lot of quarterbacks that never go to one Super Bowl. Why would you hate someone that is better than Joe Montana? Ronda is getting the great hate! Of course there are people that are going to have animosity against her because she’s earned a level of respect that most of us will never see.

Even the best won’t see that type of stuff. There’s only a few Muhammad Alis, a few Michael Jordans, a few Ronda Rouseys. To hate that is that they’re jealous and not understanding of what greatness looks like up close.
