Mercedes Moné explains a ‘big reason’ why things are much better for her in AEW than WWE

Earlier this year, AEW made a big splash with the signing of free agent Mercedes Moné, who formerly wrestled in WWE as Sasha Banks. Despite the rumor mill indicating that AEW had Mercedes in the fold for a while, plenty of wrestling fans didn’t believe she was All Elite until she actually showed up on AEW’s “Big Business” episode of Dynamite in the middle of March.

During an interview on WFAN, Mercedes touched on one of the reasons why she came over to AEW. Here is her response to a question about whether her WWE contract restricted her ability to pursue outside projects:

“Oh, yes! Oh yes. And that’s definitely a big reason why I came to AEW. Even doing The Mandalorian was pulling teeth with the WWE, to even try to get time off to film that show. So, Tony [Khan] said whatever I need, if I need that private jet to go from filming in LA to come in for shows, then it’s available for me.”

I’m sure there are plenty of other reasons behind Mercedes’ decision to sign with AEW. But she says this flexibility to do outside work is a big one, so who am I to argue with her on that?
