MJF costs Garcia against Ospreay, then sends him to the hospital

Last week, Maxwell Jacob Friedman offered Daniel Garcia a match in Wembley Stadium at this year’s All In PPV. But Will Ospreay showed up and offered Garcia a shot at his International title on July 3’s Beach Break edition of Dynamite. MJF didn’t like it, and both men watched as Ospreay came up short against AEW World champ Swerve Strickland this past Sunday at Forbidden Door.

All of that came into play at the open of tonight’s show. Garcia and his mentor, Daddy Magic Matt Menard, were being interviewed by Renee Paquette. Daniel swore on his mother’s life he wouldn’t lose against Ospreay, and Max offered to corner Garcia for the match.

Further intrigue was added later in another interview segment with Ospreay. He talked about his loss Sunday night, and how he’s not the guy Don Callis brought into his Family last year. Will thanked Callis for all he’s done for him, but said he’s out of the group. Don said he doesn’t usually let people break contracts with him, but he’s so proud of Ospreay, in this case he will. He also played Godfather, telling Bruv that he may call in this favor in the future. His smile during their embrace cast doubt on the whole exchange, as well.

Come main event time, Ospreay and Garcia traded flurries, with the champ taunting the challenger even as he sold his injuries from the PPV. We were also given an early reminder that MJF and Ospreay aren’t cool when they shared a tense moment on the outside.

The Buffalo Kid had some taunts of his own…

…but The Brit thought he had it won with a Styles Clash. Garcia had more fight in him, but couldn’t put Ospreay away either. Max tried to get Daniel to cut corners, offering him his Dynamite Diamond Ring to use as a weapon. The challenger considered it, but ultimately decided not to — and when he did, Will swooped in with a Hidden Blade to retain.

The champ consoled a despondent Garcia, then exchanged more glances with MJF. Friedman took the blame, gettiing the crowd to cheer for the fallen challenger. Then he kicked him in the nuts.

MJF completed his return to form by blasting Daddy Magic with a ring-loaded punch, bloodying him up. Then he did that and worse to Garcia, spitting and blowing his nose on him before piledriving his neck into the mat.

When interim EVP Christopher Daniels and AEW officials couldn’t stop the carnage, Ospreay limped his way out of the trainer’s room to send Friedman scurrying off into the stands (where he got into it with some fans to disavow anyone of the notion they should cheer for him). Gracia was stretchered off…

…and it looks like we’re headed toward MJF vs. Ospreay at All In.
