As noted on Thursday, via Sports Illustrated, wrestling veteran Dean Malenko quit WWE after working behind-the-scenes since retiring from in-ring action in 2001.
In an update, PWInsider reports that WWE may have been released by WWE.
It was noted that there has been a huge influx of new producers brought into the company over the past few months with many of the older producers being cycled on and off the road. There had been a fear among some that this was the beginning of the old guard being replaced.
As we’ve noted, WWE has hired several familiar faces to work as producers this year – WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett, Shane Helms, Shawn Daivari, Chris Parks (Abyss) and Sonjay Dutt.
We hope to have more on Malenko’s departure soon, but he is now gone from the company.
