More On Vince Rewriting Entire Smackdown Script, Sami Zayn Versus Aleister Black

on

As we reported this week, Vince McMahon tore up the entire Smackdown script and rewrote it himself. This has been a repeated occurrence lately. The main event was reworked three times until they finally settled on Big E and Xavier Woods versus Daniel Bryan and Rowan. The angle with Daniel Bryan’s “career altering announcement” has been dropped, according to Dave Meltzer.

In an update, Meltzer adds that after the rewrites there was an hour left on the show with nothing on it. Vince added the Sami Zayn versus Aleister Black match that was supposed to take place at SummerSlam to fill in some of that time. This came only a week after WWE officially announced the match for SummerSlam. An angle was played out for Zayn and Aleister to rush the match onto the card instead of waiting for the big event.

According to his source, Meltzer says that the original draft was actually much worse than what we eventually saw on TV. Ryan Satin of prowrestlingsheet.com added that Eric Bischoff hasn’t written or proposed anything that has made TV yet because he’s still settling into his new position.

WWE SummerSlam will be available this Sunday on the WWE Network.
