There are a lot of media to choose from these days

As far as the question of who covers the Chicago Bears the best, I think we all know that the answer is Windy City Gridiron.

But, seriously folks.

We here at WCG do what we can, but most of us are without regular access and are not “credentialed media.”

My colleagues are often much more humble than I am and wouldn’t accept that compliment anyway, but this site couldn’t run without Lester, Ken, Bill or Jeff. Nor would we get anywhere without the contributions of Jacob, Jack Silverstein, Jack Salo, ECD, Khari, Ryan, Greg, Aaron, Patti, Taylor, Mason, Bryan, TJ, Josh, Steven or EJ.

Whew, we have a lot of contributors these days.

But to keep things humble and more “mainstream” let’s set aside everyone’s favorite bloggers and focus on the credentialed traditional media outlets. The ones inside the media room at Halas Hall and in the locker room on Sundays.

I love The Athletic’s coverage. Adam Jahns and Kevin Fishbain bring great insight and reporting to the beat. Hoge and Jahns is my favorite of the beat podcasts, and I’ve been a listener since Adam Hoge was still at WGN, Jahns was at the Sun-Times and it was called “Intentional Grounding.”

They bring a level-headed approach to reporting. They rarely go for a hot take and always bring even-keeled reporting to sensitive topics and contextualize hot-button issues or a quote that goes viral.

Plus, The Athletic also has Dan Pompei, bringing in always delightful and in-depth pieces on historical and modern players.

Chicago has a lot of solid reporters though. Brad Biggs is still plugged in and brings good, even reporting. And even if they’re a little bit “new media” I like what CHGO does with Nicholas Moreano and Mark Carmen.

Who is your favorite reporter or outlet? There’s no shortage to choose from. Sound off in the comments.
