Only seven months of 2024 have passed, but PUBG Mobile has already announced the venue for the first international esports event of 2025. The PUBG Mobile Global Open (PMGO) 2025 will happen in Uzbekistan, making it the first international esports event in Central Asia.

The PMGO was introduced earlier in 2024, with its first edition taking place in Brazil in March. James Yang, the global director for PUBG Mobile esports returned to the country for the Gamescom LATAM, where he announced the venue for the next edition of the exciting tournament.

PUBG Mobile’s first esports LAN in Uzbekistan announced: PMGO 2025 is all set to happen

The PMGO was introduced as a tournament where players have a direct chance of making it to an international esports event through open qualifiers. Hence, it has been called the Global Open.

This new tournament came as PUBG Mobile esports made huge changes to its ecosystem with the introduction of partnered leagues. There are four partnered leagues, namely the PMSL SEA, EMEA, Americas, and Central/South Asia. As a result, the overall roadmap for PUBG Mobile esports has become restricted to just a few teams and not as open as it would have been before.

Therefore, the PUBG Mobile Global Open (PMGO) 2024 presents a unique opportunity for tier 2 teams to compete in the highest level of PUBG Mobile esports.

Additionally, when announcing the new PMGO in late 2023, Yang said that the tournament would also enable the game to tap new markets with an esports scene. Thus, the PMGO 2025 has now made its way to Uzbekistan.

The exact venue and schedule haven’t been announced, though. It will likely take place in early 2025, similar to this year’s format.

In the PMGO 2024, the top teams from PUBG Mobile’s partnership program received a direct invite while the rest of the slots were open to the public. Despite the time zone difference between Brazil and Asia, where the game is primarily popular, the PMGO pulled in great numbers, per Esports Charts. It had a peak viewership of 513,000 while the average viewership stood at 154,000.
