Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 6/27/24

Douglas Emhoff is married to Vice President Kamala Harris (you may have heard of her), and he was on the Rich Eisen Show where he gave his win-loss prediction for the Los Angeles Rams for this upcoming season. Apparently Emhoff is a huge fan of LA and the Rams. In all fairness, the video cuts out at time of this writing, so I don’t think they get through the whole schedule in the clip posted below. I’ll breakdown his picks and let us know if you agree in the comments!

These predictions are all in fun. Please comment, discuss whatever you like and thanks for checking out Turf Show Times!

Week 1 against Detroit Lions: Emhoff calls this a loss.

Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals: Emhoff gives LA their first win of the season here.

Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers: Emhoff gives the Rams a win here.

Week 4 against the Chicago Bears: Emhoff expect a dub and LA to be at 3-1 at this point in the season.

Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers: Emhoff feels the Rams can win this one.

Week 6 is the Rams bye week.

Week 7 LA will take on the Las Vegas Raiders and he expects the Rams to keep the win streak going.

Week 8 against the Minnesota Vikings: Emhoff expects another Rams win.

Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks: Emhoff expects another Rams win to put them on a 7 game winning streak.

Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins he thinks Tua and the Dolphins come away with the win ending the winning streak, but 7-2 is certainly a fine record.

Week 11 against the New England Patriots Emhoff expects a win.

Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles Emhoff gives the Eagles the win here.

Week 13 against the New Orleans Saints and he expects another Rams win to put them at 9-3.

Week 14 against the Buffalo Bills and Emhoff says that the Rams can beat the Bills.

Week 15 against the 49ers and Emhoff calls a loss for LA

Week 16 against the New York Jets and Emhoff expects a win for LA here as well to put the Rams at 11-4.

The video ends there but I can firmly say that I think most fans would be happy with a 11-4 start to the season.

Inside Rams WR Puka Nacua’s first offseason as an L.A. celebrity (espn)

“Then the Thursday before the Super Bowl he got a text from fellow Rams receiver Cooper Kupp:

Hey, I’m starting back up on Monday morning. I know you might be out of town, but when you get back in town, we’ll get right to it.

“I’m thinking like, man, Cooper’s already starting to work out,” Nacua said.

But Nacua thought back to the conversation he’d had with wide receivers coach Eric Yarber after the Rams wrapped the season with a playoff loss to the Detroit Lions in the wild-card round. They talked about how the receiver could take the next step after his breakout rookie season.”

Kyren Williams invigorated by Rams’ potential with addition of rookie RB Blake Corum (nfl.com)

“Honestly, it’s growing off of what I did last year. Being a leader out there on the field and being somebody that people could come to or watch, observe and see what they need to do to be successful,” Williams said Tuesday during an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show. “It really doesn’t take much. You have to be dedicated and work to where you want to be. The end goal may not happen tomorrow or the next day, but eventually if you continue to keep working each and every single day, that’s going to get to where you need to be.

“So, for me it’s just living by that and just picking off of what I did last year — being able to create more explosives in the run game, also being able to create more explosives in the pass game. I’m super excited that we went to go draft Blake Corum. (He’s) somebody that can run the ball very well and hopefully it allows me to get to the slot or run routes out of the backfield to showcase my skills.”

Random Ramsdom Fandom: Luther Burden III draft introduction (By Ferragamo15 on Jun 25, 2024)

“The Unbearable Burden of Massive Talent

At first blush, it doesn’t feel necessary to write a fanpost profile about Missouri’s superstar WR, Luther Burden III. He’s an electric athlete in the mold of Malik Nabers, Justin Jefferson or OBJ. PFF proclaimed that Burden is the next Deebo Samuel. He’s projected to be one of the top selections in the 2025 draft. As soon as you see him speed by defenders or catch contested bombs deep downfield, what more is there that needs to be said to explain his appeal as an NFL prospect? Surely, he’ll be off the board before the Rams get to pick, so why bother studying him?

On the other hand, the draft is so far away, with an entire season yet to be played, you never know how things will unfold. In 2014, OBJ was only the 12th overall pick, one slot before the Rams selected Aaron Donald. The Rams supposedly were interested in trading up for Rome Odunze, so maybe they would make a bold move for Burden if he were within range.

Is Burden a generational talent who is worth mortgaging the future to try to acquire? Could he become the centerpiece of McVay’s offense and someday be regarded as the best WR in Rams franchise history?
