Ronda Rousey has stepped away from the MMA world for now as she focuses on becoming a success as a superstar in the WWE, but that doesn’t mean UFC is completely behind her. It’s a big part of her history and one of the reasons why she is in the WWE today.
It’s been some time since Rowdy last walked inside an Octagon for a fight, as her last fight was against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship in December 2016. She lost the fight though via knockout.
This was the second defeat of her MMA career, as her first defeat came against Holly Holm at UFC 193 a year before in November 2015. From being one of the most dominant MMA fighters in UFC history to two crushing defeats in a row, Rousey was in a very low place.
For one of the first times, Rousey opened up reflected on how she felt after her defeat to Nunes, as she said to WWE: “I remember my last fight, walking away thinking ‘God hates me.’ I had nothing left in me.”
The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion went on to reveal how much her husband helped her get through those rough times.
