WWE Superstar and Intercontinental Champion Ryback has been out of action for nearly a month now as he undergoes treatment for a staph infection in his leg.
The news came as a surprise to many WWE fans, as “The Big Guy” was in the midst of a push that was seemingly putting him near the top of the mid-card. The champion had been set to face The Big Show and The Miz in a triple threat match at “Battleground” back in July, but the match was called off following news of the injury.
In an update, Ryback took to his Instagram to show the progress of the infection’s treatment. The photo is slightly graphic, but he notes this is the best he’s looked since the whole ordeal began. It can be seen below:
Ryback picked up his first WWE title at “Elimination Chamber,” when he outlasted several other competitors in order to pick up the title. There is no word as of yet on what WWE plans to do with the championship, as it is unsure just how long he will be out of action for.
It should be noted prior to him taking the title, fellow WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan was forced to vacate the championship, as he would be ruled out of action indefinitely with symptoms related to a concussion he suffered while on a European tour for the company. Bryan was there in person at “Elimination Chamber” to hand over the title to Ryback following his victory inside the steel structure.
