On the latest episode of X-Pac 1 2 360, Sean Waltman discusses the many angles of DX getting the nod to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. During the podcast, he talked about how important it is for Chyna to be included, as well as whether he believes that he should be in as an individual performer. Here are the highlights:
On How He Found Out DX Was Being Inducted:
Anytime anyone has ever asked me {about going into the HOF}, I can just think of so many people that should go into the Hall of Fame. From generations past that haven’t gone in yet. For me it’s important to see those people go in while they are still around to enjoy the induction… I got a text from Mark Carrano {Head of Talent Relations}, and he was just like ‘Hey, can we talk?’ and I just assumed it was about signing my contract {Legend’s Deal} because I had the FedEx package and contract sitting on my table. And finally he called and he’s like ‘I just talked to Paul {Levesque}…’ I can’t remember the words exactly how he said it and then he went ‘you’re going into the Hall of Fame.’ And I just about shit. And then he explained with DX and everyone’s going in, Joanie {Chyna} included… it’s not that I don’t feel worthy because I do understand the things I have done in the industry, in my career and all of that but I am just blown away by all of it. I’ve done things in my career you know, accomplishments, and being in DX, NWO, the Kliq all of that. You go ‘okay eventually that will happen’ but I wasn’t sure that I would still be around for it to be honest with you. Cause not everyone is gonna make it up to that stage. So yeah, I am just grateful.
On Fans Who Are Upset Chyna Isn’t Being Inducted On Her Own:
As far as Joanie {Chyna} is concerned, there are a lot of people that aren’t satisfied with this. Because obviously she is worthy of going in by herself and for a lot of people this wasn’t good enough. I would just encourage them to take the win. A win doesn’t always come exactly how you want it to but it’s a win nonetheless. And anyone who doesn’t think so, I don’t even know what to tell them.
On Whether He Thinks He Should Get In On His Own:
I can give two shits about going in on my own. If you ask me, what my choice is; go in on my own or go in with like I said, more than once, with the people I had the greatest time of my life with, I am going to pick going in with them every single time you ask me… I even put a tweet out, I am grateful for the sentiment, okay, but there’s only so many slots every year and there are so many deserving people…Can we just enjoy and accept the win? It’s a win for Joanie {Chyna} she’s going to be in the Hall of Fame forever, forever, they can never take that away from her and she deserves it. Her family is extremely excited too.
On The Main Roster Needing To Step Up Their Game:
Aleister Black had Andrade the next night on Smackdown which was an opponent he had great matches with in NXT so it was a really really good match-up and they were able to work that style that they worked in NXT… look what I am trying to say is, it was like you can tell there was a big difference, to me, in the feel of those matches. Those guys with this cutting edge style and with different ways of going into things…and then you go and you see the other guys on the roster that are just working that same kinda you know same routines, same way of shooting guys in, it felt all of a sudden very antiquated looking compared to what I saw from the NXT guys… I think some of the other guys on the roster maybe need to step up and update their game…we just get comfortable in our routines and that’s how it worked before, but now you can see wrestling from around the world and all the promotions and everyone has something online you could see. And many years ago you could do these routines and they weren’t routines to the fans because they didn’t see them as much. So yeah, I just think we get comfortable so it’s time to shake things up a little bit.
