Twitter user @Wrestlevotes, an often reliable source for scoops, is speculating that plans for Survivor Series have changed considerably from the original slate.

According to WrestleVotes, the original plan was to move away from the Raw v Smackdown theme that was prominently featured at last year’s event. Vince McMahon was the primary driver behind not wanting to do Raw v Smackdown again. Presumably, Vince didn’t want to run Roman Reigns v A.J. Styles, as it’s believed that this would lead to further negative reaction for Reigns.

Once it was revealed that Reigns’ leukemia had returned, all plans went out the window and a decision was made to go forward with Raw v Smackdown.

The prior plan included an elimination match between teams captained by Kurt Angle and Baron Corbin. While that match hasn’t been ruled out, with a Raw v Smackdown elimination match announced and a shift in storyline focus to Corbin v Braun Strowman, it seems unlikely that this match will still occur.

Another major match that was on the agenda was a singles encounter between HBK & The Undertaker. WrestleVotes no longer believes that this match will occur. HBK was open to the possibility of wrestling a few more matches if all went well at Crown Jewel. With Triple H’s torn pectoral muscle, it’s unclear whether HBK considers Crown Jewel as “going well”.
