The fans in Chicago have not forgotten CM Punk and they showed love for their hometown guy during this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. During the opening segment, the fans tried to drown out Stephanie McMahon’s promo with CM Punk chants.
McMahon, always quick on her feet, paused and then addressed the crowd by telling them that if they could keep the chants going for 2:15 then it would be one second longer than Punk lasted. That was an obvious shot at Punk for losing his fight to Mickey Gall in September during his debut UFC fight. I’m sure her husband Triple H smiled when his wife said that, considering that Triple H was on the receiving end of much of Punk’s burial of WWE on Colt Cabana’s podcast.

Obviously, things are not better between Punk and WWE and the chances of a reconciliation seem very slim right now. The lawsuit filed by WWE doctor Chris Amann against Punk is still active and I don’t see either side working together again anytime soon. Anything is possible (see: Bret Hart, Bruno Sammartino, and Ultimate Warrior) in wrestling but Punk seems to have moved on from WWE.
