Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

Ranking NFL teams’ under-25 talent: Texans, Lions lead list – ESPN+
29th) Philadelphia Eagles. 2023 ranking: 13th. Blue-chip players: DT Jalen Carter. Notable graduated players: WR DeVonta Smith, G Landon Dickerson, G/C Cam Jurgens, S Reed Blankenship The Eagles’ young standouts are almost entirely on defense, starting with two linemen: Carter (23) and Jordan Davis (24). Carter faded over the second half of last season but still finished second in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. Davis hasn’t quite lived up to his potential as the 13th overall pick in 2022 yet, but he’s strong against the run. Safety Sydney Brown started six games as a rookie and may become a starter again once he returns from a torn ACL. The Eagles’ cornerbacks include two rookies: Quinyon Mitchell is a bit older at 23, but Cooper DeJean is 21. Behind them are a couple of 23-year-olds from last year’s draft class, Kelee Ringo and Eli Ricks. The linebackers include Nolan Smith Jr. (23) on the edge and Nakobe Dean (23) in the middle.

Jalen Hurts putting in the work with his teammates – BGN
Being the starting quarterback in a football-mad city like Philadelphia comes with a lot of responsibilities off the field. First of all, you have to pander to us by saying something simple like “cheesesteaks are great” or “the Braves really suck.” Second of all, you have to be aware that your every move will be dissected by fans, especially in the doldrums of summer before training camp starts. Unrelated to all that…Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was recently putting in some work with younger teammates, per Hurts’ Instagram Story.

Eagles are monitoring situation that resulted in Howard Eskin’s banishment from Phillies games – PFT
Howard Eskin, as reported by Ximena Conde of the Philadelphia Inquirer, has been banned from Phillies games at Citizens Bank Park for the rest of the season, following an investigation that determined he had made an unwanted advance toward a female Aramark employee earlier this year. A team spokesperson tells PFT that the Eagles are monitoring the situation and are in contact with Audacy, Eskin’s employer.

Fourth of July 2024: Dolphins, Eagles, Cowboys among 9 NFL teams with the most fireworks entering new season – CBS Sports
2. Philadelphia Eagles. Not so unlike their NFC East rival Cowboys, the Birds feel highly combustible due an abundance of both premium play-makers and intense pressure from up top. Adding colorful starters like Saquon Barkley and C.J. Gardner-Johnson has re-raised the bar as Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown and Co. look to return to the title conversation.

Figuring out OT depth chart will be a Cowboys’ priority in training camp – Blogging The Boys
In a little less than a month, on July 24, the Dallas Cowboys report to training camp in Oxnard, California. They have no shortage of things they need to figure out prior to the start of the 2024 NFL season, but a huge priority should be identifying Tyron Smith’s replacement at left tackle and filling out the rest of the depth chart at offensive tackle. The only thing we really know about the Cowboys offensive tackle position as things stand right now is Terence Steele will return as the starter on the right side. Who ends up stepping in for Tyron Smith as the new starting blindside protector and how the remainder of the depth chart falls into place will be an important part of solving the puzzle of the 2024 roster.

Eagles star not happy about how Giants treated Saquon Barkley: ‘The video fired me up’ – NJ.com
One of Barkley’s new teammates couldn’t believe the Giants didn’t want to bring him back. “The Saquon video fired me up and it wasn’t even about me,” Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown tweeted on Wednesday. “I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure you get yours fam!”

The Giants and HBO’s Hard Knocks: A look at how Saquon Barkley became a free agent – PhillyVoice
As it turned out, the following happened in Giants free agency: The Eagles were indeed willing to pay Barkley money above the franchise tag number, contrary to Schoen’s read of the market. There was a run on running backs early in free agency, forcing Schoen to overpay Singletary on a $5.5 million/year deal on Day 1, when he thought there would be bargains in the second week. Again, he misread the market. In free agency they signed a pair of guards, Jon Runyan and Jermaine Eluemunor, for a combined $17 million per year. Neither player is special, by any stretch, and they are the types of players that can be acquired with extreme ease. To be determined if Barkley ends up being a good player for the Eagles. Maybe he will, maybe he won’t. If he is, this Hard Knocks series is going to look awful for Schoen and the Giants in hindsight.

10 things that could change the perception of the Giants’ roster – Big Blue View
The Giants have to be effective at running back. They don’t have to be spectacular, but they need to be productive. Can they? There are analytics that tell you Devin Singletary, the veteran back signed to replace Barkley, has been as good or better than Barkley in some areas the past three seasons — albeit in fewer touches. There is excitement about fifth-round pick Tyrone Tracy Jr. Being good enough at this position is possible. Again, though, we will have to see it.

The 5 O’Clock Club: Clearly, the Commanders know exactly what they’re looking for at the safety position – Hogs Haven
The four safeties listed on the left side of the chart are the players returning from the 2023 Commanders roster. Those on the right were brought to the team by Dan Quinn and Joe Whitt. Jeremy Chinn, of course, was one of the higher-profile free agent signings in March. Dominique Hampton was drafted in the 5th round of the April draft as what the Washington Post described as a “heigh/weight/speed prospect”. Tyler Owens is an undrafted college free agent out of the University of Texas and Texas Tech.

NFL teams don’t need a No. 1 receiver and here’s why – SB Nation
“The last thing you want is your No. 1 receiver to go two-and-a-half quarters into a game and not see a ball… ‘cause he’s going to get discouraged.” “He’s got to go out there and break the huddle, run out 25 yards to his alignment, run down the field as fast as he can and try to get open, then back to the huddle. It’s a lot of effort that he’s putting in to not getting the ball… reward that guy earlier in the game.” It’s interesting that for the most part, Brady got his thing done at a GOAT level without the benefit of a true No.1 receiver. Yes, he had Randy Moss for a few seasons, and there was Rob Gronkowski at his best, but the best quarterback ever to play the position had as many seasons without those force multipliers as he did with them. Brady’s comments about how that true alpha receiver affects the quarterback’s mindset are interesting in that the NFL seems to be trending away from the No. 1 receiver as a must.
