The Rock caught up with “The Hollywood Reporter” for a brief chat regarding “Fighting With My Family”. When asked why they chose to go with a smaller Indie studio rather than one of the major players, The Rock revealed that none of the top studios wanted to play ball:
We wanted a studio to buy into it, and no one did. We got passed on everywhere. It was a small British comedy about a crazy wrestling family that wasn’t famous.
The Rock also chimed in on early fan response to the film:
Wrestling fans floated out of the theaters. And the nonwrestling fans, the ones who have a bit more heightened taste in terms of their movies, they were just pleasantly surprised.
