AEW President and co-founder Tony Khan released a statement on Twitter last night revealing that the staging for Fight for the Fallen was inspired by an old wrestling based episode of South Park. Khan also stated that the event wasn’t designed to make a profit, as all the money they raised went towards the victims of the Jacksonville shooting from August 2018.
Thank you to everyone who watched
@AEWrestling#FightForTheFallen live or on@brlive US/Canada or@FiteTV elsewhere. Over a year ago I dreamed this staging watched South Park,@dailysplace was great tonight! This show wasn’t designed to profit, glad to give back to Jacksonville!
AEW would end up raising an impressive $150,000, with Cody Rhodes announcing more donations expected to come. See Khan’s tweet below.
