This is the UFC 303 live blog for Anthony Smith vs. Roman Dolidze, the featured main card fight on Saturday in Las Vegas.
A one-time light heavyweight title challenger, Smith has had an up-and-down run since falling short against Jon Jones in 2019, going 6-5 in the promotion since. That was put to the test this weekend, as originally Smith stepped as a short-notice replacement against Carlos Ulberg, who then was replaced by Dolidze just a few days later.
Dolidze began his career as a light heavyweight and had great success before dropping down to middleweight for his third UFC fight. Dolidze continued to succeed at 185 pounds, racking up four straight wins before falling to Marvin Vettori and Nassourdine Imavov in back-to-back fights. Now at a crossroads, Dolidze stepped in on short notice to return to the division where he’s never lost, with an opportunity to immediately vault into the top 15.
