This is the UFC 303 live blog for Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Macy Chiasson, the main card women’s bantamweight fight on Saturday in Las Vegas.
A UFC fighter since 2018, Silva broke out in 2022 when she returned to bantamweight and strung together four consecutive wins, including a submission finish of Holly Holm in 2023. That win was ultimately overturned due to a failed drug test, but Silva still stepped into a vacant bantamweight title fight in January, losing to Raquel Pennington by decision. Now “Sheetara” hopes to rebound and remind everyone why she was the odds-on favorite to take the title just a few months ago.
Joining the UFC in 2018 as the women’s featherweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter, Chiasson immediately dropped down to bantamweight, where she won her first two fights. A loss to Lina Lansberg followed and Chiasson has failed to live up to her promise since then, going 4-2 across multiple weight classes, but falling short when facing top-ranked opposition. Chiasson gets another chance on Saturday, and the 32-year-old hopes that this time she’ll announce herself as a legitimate title threat at bantamweight.
