Dave Meltzer reports that the WWE cancelled them due to low ticket sales as we expected. There was speculation that the WWE was cancelling them to pack the Smackdown shows to draw in more ratings in preparation for the move to Fox. WWE does intend on using RAW superstars during Smackdown Supershows soon, but Meltzer doesn’t believe that is the reason for cancelling an entire tour.
“Which I did hear was going to be done from some of the talent that their shows are cancelled but they’re going to be doing more Supershows… Right now the only Super Show I know of is from Houston.
There maybe more, but if the house shows were doing so well they wouldn’t be cancelling tours. Which they are.” – Dave Meltzer
Meltzer doesn’t believe injuries are playing a part in cancelling any tours either, despite WWE saying so on record. With house shows down and SummerSlam down in attendance from last year, Meltzer believes their is no doubt that all these shows are being cancelled due to lack of interest in the brand. WWE has been saying that things are already looking up, but the numbers don’t reflect that.
