VALORANT: 5 Best Agents To Play on Abyss

on

Abyss has been out for a while now, and this new map has also made its way to the game’s competitive pool. As a result, many players are now on the hunt for the best agents to play on the map that can give them an upper hand over their opponents and help them climb the ranked ladder. With so many playable characters to choose from, however, finding the best ones isn’t a piece of cake. Therefore, we’ve got you covered with a list of the top 5 agents to play on the VALORANT Abyss map.

Top 5 Agents for VALORANT Abyss Map

5. Harbor

It’s no secret that Abyss is a relatively large map which means controllers like Brimstone, Clove or Omen are the worst agents for this map due to their limited range and the inability to cover the main choke points.

Thankfully, we have found that Harbor is one of the best controller agents for the VALORANT Abyss map.  His ability to bend his walls is advantageous for attacking sites, especially with Cascade, which is useful for the elevated areas on the map. His ultimate is perfect for the execute-heavy nature of Abyss, and his utility fits well here, despite his general weakness as an agent currently.

You can also play as Viper if you haven’t unlocked Harbor yet but it’s worth noting that her wall isn’t as effective here as on Breeze or Icebox, where it can cover multiple angles and deny a lot of space to the enemy team.

4. Chamber

We’ve seen Chamber performing exceptionally well across multiple maps despite the agent receiving continuous nerfs from the past few patches. In fact, he’s the highest-rated Sentinel due to the long sightlines on Abyss, which suit his operator ultimate. The best part is different elevations let him get creative with his combats, making him an excellent choice.

However, during our playthrough, we discovered that sentinels like Cypher are not very effective for the Abyss map. Although his global range is powerful, the map’s elevation allows enemies to bypass his trips easily. There aren’t any unbreakable trips as seen on maps like Sunset or Breeze, so while dedicated players can pull off some good setups, he isn’t outstanding here.

3. Breach

Breach is inarguably the strongest initiator for Abyss. His utility, like stuns and the ability to knock people off the map, is highly effective in Abyss’s long and narrow areas. Having Breach and Sova on a team is ideal, with other initiators being viable but less optimal, especially Fade, who is limited by her range. And his aftershock is particularly helpful during post-plants and sometimes makes the opponent forcibly fall from the map.

2. Sova

If you’ve explored the entire map properly, you may have noticed that Abyss is full of off-angles that are relatively difficult to clear especially on the attacking side. Therefore, Sova is by far the best agent to counter this situation as his reveals can clear out all the tiny corners and enemies hiding behind the boxes on the A and B sites. And if that’s not enough, use his drone to assist your team in acquiring one of the sites or detect the presence of the opponents while playing as defenders.

1. Jett: The best VALORANT agent for Abyss

As mentioned earlier, Abyss is filled to the brim with a ton of unexpected angles, which is why Jett’s abilities make her the best choice for the Duelist role on this map. With her Updraft ability, you can launch yourself in the air in order to access the elevated areas where opponents won’t expect your presence.

On top of that, Abyss is often classified as an operator’s map, which means Jett’s dash ability is perfect for taking out those nasty snipers during long-range combats. So, in simple terms, your primary objective is to take those entry frags if you’re playing Jett on Abyss.
