Wilander reveals who among Djokovic, Federer and Nadal is the GOAT

on

Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have rewritten the history of tennis, we have not discovered America. Saying who among them is the GOAT is the topic that has split the tennis world in recent years. The numbers and records – objective and real – say Djokovic, but fans are very divided on the issue; everyone chooses based on who they support.

Mats Wilander was amazed by the quick recovery made by the 24-time Slam champion, who will participate in Wimbledon three weeks after menic surgery. The former Swedish champion, speaking of the Big 3, analyzed who among them is the most complete and, consequently, the GOAT. The former Swedish tennis player did not miss the opportunity to praise Djokovic, making a particular comparison with his greatest rivals.

“I think when Nole arrived in the Tour at the beginning we didn’t see the greatness of him because the greatness of him was more inside him than outside. I think that in Roger and Rafa the greatness can be seen, in the shot, in the technique. But I think it took a while for everyone to understand that he has no weaknesses. Federer has weaknesses. Nadal has weaknesses. Djokovic doesn’t have any,” he explained.

“It is very surprising to see Novak in London a few days before Wimbledon, without knowing if he will play, but this is his greatness. He is not looking for the number 1 ranking, he is not looking to win the most Grand Slam titles, he is looking for the daily situation. And I think he feels the need to go to Wimbledon to regain the competitive spirit,” he added.

The primary goal, for Nole, as everyone knows, is to win a gold medal at the next Olympics, the only major trophy missing from his glorious collection.

“Playing Wimbledon will help him come back sooner to be fully prepared to play the Olympics. If he were at home, maybe he could train better, but he wouldn’t be playing with players of the level he can have at Wimbledon,” said Wilander.

Djokovic’s lightning recovery surprised everyone a bit. The surgery on the meniscus of his right knee seemed to keep him out for Wimbledon, but also for the Paris Olympics, which will be played a few weeks after the London Slam. Instead the Serbian, against all odds, will take part in the Championships, as seed No.2. Nole will try to win his eighth title, catching Roger Federer.
