– WWE has issued a statement discussing Ultimate Warrior’s past controversial comments in the wake of a Vice Sports piece about the late WWE Hall of Famer.
The Vice article accuses WWE of whitewashing Warrior’s more controversial statements, including his anti-gay comments and saying he hoped Bobby Heenan would die of cancer, and contained a statement from Dana Warrior saying Warrior’s “his heart was changed by conversations with his two daughters” and that he evolved.
WWE’s statement:
“WWE’s ‘Unleash Your Warrior’ breast cancer awareness campaign and annual ‘Warrior Award’ recognize individuals that exhibit the strength and courage of WWE’s legendary character The Ultimate Warrior. Any attempt to distract from the mission of these initiatives and take the spotlight away from the honorees is unfortunately misguided.”
