The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Royal Rumble event set to take place on Sun., Jan. 29, 2017, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, the company’s annual beginning of the year showcase featuring its most popular gimmick match. It will crown the next number one contender to either the Raw (Universal) or SmackDown Live (World) championship.

We’re still five weeks away from the gates opening in the Lone Star State but the card is starting to take shape.

– Royal Rumble

The annual 30-man over-the-top-rope battle royal will likely headline the show with Goldberg and Brock Lesnar as the only two wrestlers announced for the match at this time.

– Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns (Universal championship)

This was announced on Monday Night Raw this past week with the added stipulation that Chris Jericho will be suspended above the ring in a shark cage.

That’s it so far, but expect the major titles from both brands to be defended on the undercard.
